Privacy Policy
This page publishes the current public privacy policy for the PackPaw iOS app. The English content below is aligned with the in-app legal text and describes the app's offline-first, local-first, and minimal-collection data handling approach.
PackPaw Privacy Policy
PackPaw follows an offline-first, local-first, minimal-collection privacy principle. This Policy explains how the App handles your data.
1. Data We Process
The App only processes data you actively enter or import, including: pet profiles (name, breed, date of birth, weight, allergies and medications, microchip ID, emergency contact), trip information, packing lists and progress, documents and images, reminder schedules, and app preferences.
The App does not collect your name, phone number, location, device identifiers, or advertising identifiers.
2. Where Data Is Stored
By default, all data is stored only in the local database and file system on your device. Nothing is uploaded to PackPaw or any third-party server.
Sensitive fields such as microchip IDs, emergency contacts, and document images are encrypted at rest on the device.
3. iCloud Sync (Optional, Off by Default)
You may manually enable iCloud sync in Settings. Once enabled, data is synced between your devices through your own Apple ID private iCloud container.
iCloud sync is provided by Apple. PackPaw servers never see your data, and the PackPaw developer cannot read what is stored in your iCloud.
You can disable sync at any time; afterwards new data stays on the device, and previously synced data is handled by Apple according to its rules.
4. Local Notifications & Reminders
Reminders, document expiry alerts, and medication reminders are delivered via iOS local notifications. They are not sent over the network and notification content is not uploaded to any third-party push service.
5. Export & Sharing
Export and sharing actions are always initiated by you. Exported content is redacted by default; sensitive fields such as microchip IDs, emergency contacts, and document numbers can be individually toggled on or off in the export.
Exported files are saved to the destination you choose (such as the Files app, email, or AirDrop). PackPaw does not retain a copy.
6. Third-Party Services
The App currently does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or social-account SDK, and does not share your data with third parties.
If third-party capabilities are introduced in the future, they will be clearly disclosed in the release notes and in this Policy.
7. System Permissions
Notifications: used to deliver trip, document expiry, and medication reminders.
Photos / Files: used to attach document images and to import or export data.
iCloud: used only when you manually enable sync.
You may adjust the above permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Disabling a permission may make the corresponding feature unavailable.
8. Deletion & Undo
You can delete any pet, trip, list, or document inside the App at any time.
Deletion of high-risk data requires a second confirmation and provides a short undo window.
Uninstalling the App removes all local data on the device. If iCloud sync is enabled, please also remove the corresponding content from iCloud.
9. Minors
The App is intended for pet owners and is not directed to children under 13. If a minor has entered personal information, a guardian should help remove it.
10. Updates to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be revised in future versions. Revisions will be highlighted inside the App, and continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
